J’s Bikes Racing Gravel Fondue

Rescheduled Saturday, May 27 11 a.m. Griffin Bike Park: Main Parking Lot All Ages & Skill Levels (13 and under require adult supervision) $10 Preregistration, $15 after 4/17/17 Gravel Race South of Terre Haute in Southern Vigo and Northern Sullivan Counties. Flat and Fast, or Flat and Muddy and Slow. Either way = Flat. Lots of gravel and dirt roads with minimal pavement. This is a rain or shine event. Grand Fondo style – mass start, timed event, with both open USAC and non-licensed categories. There will be timing /placing, and results submitted to Truesport, USA Cycling and posted on our own website. But there won’t be much else. No Prizes, No live music, No podium girls or boys. Bring your own food. However, there will be lots and lots of glory! This is a pilot race for a bigger event we planning in the fall. A Word on our Trails

With the massive amount of rain we have had recently, our trails are saturated. It is going to take a while for drying to take place as there is just nowhere for the excess water to soak into. Please be patient, we want to get out to ride as much as everyone does, but we also don’t want to damage the trails all of us have worked so hard to build. Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day/ICANN Play Day June 17

Saturday, June 17 All ages welcome Free Admission This event is one of the highlights of our year and a great opportunity for kids of all ages to try out mountain biking. Kids age 4 to 16 must bring a guardian, bicycle in good working condition, and helmet to participate. Riders younger will require parent or guardian to assist them. DINO Series at Griffin Bike Park June 23-25

The DINO Series comes to Griffin Bike Park. Expect a weekend full of exciting riding and racing action! Friday kicks off the fun with the weekly Casual Friday Ride. A great time for a pre race ride of the courses. Saturday events include Pump Track, Dual Slalom and Short Track XC. The Lake Jump will be open Saturday night! Sunday is XC day! IMBA Instructor Certification Program July 7-9

The IMBA Instructor Certification Program (ICP) offers professional training and certification for individuals who lead group rides or teach mountain bike skills clinics. With the ICP, IMBA is building on proven, successful methods nearly two decades in development, and aims to establish a standard for mountain bike skills instructor training. July 7-9 A twenty-hour course that certifies an individual to guide rides and perform fundamental skills analysis with a high level of competence.  This course focuses on group and risk management including an introductory to skills instruction. $495 for IMBA members. $550 for non-IMBA members Course Requirements      Current First Aid and CPR certificate (American Red Cross or equivalent) 18 years of age or older Three or more years of mountain biking experience Good communication skills with a strong desire to help others have more fun and progress safely Ability to perform basic trailside repairs (flat tires, broken chains, shifting & brake adjustments, etc.) – A manual and all course documents are included in the course fee. – First day’s session is 5-8pm (classroom setting). – Second and third day sessions are on-bike outside, approximately 8am-5pm with an hour break for lunch. – A schedule will be emailed prior to the course.
